Donald Trump has once more hit out at the FBI agents who carried out the search for classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort by accusing them of not taking off their shoes while they were in his bedroom.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, the former president described returning to his home in Palm Beach, Florida, to “check out the scene of yet another government ‘crime,'” in reference to the August 8 search for documents removed from the White House.
The search—which Trump described on Truth Social as a “Raid and Break-In of my home”—was part of a federal investigation into allegations the former president mishandled sensitive materials when he left office in January 2021, then attempted to obstruct the investigation.
“I guess they don’t think there is a Fourth Amendment anymore, and to them, there isn’t,” Trump posed on Truth Social early Monday morning.
“In any event, after what they have done, the place will never be the same. It was ‘ransacked,’ and in far different condition than the way I left it. Many Agents – And they didn’t even take off their shoes in my bedroom. Nice!!!”
This is not the first time Trump has criticized the actions of the federal agents who carried out the search of his Mar-a-Lago resort.
On several occasions, Trump has hit out at how the FBI laid out classified materials, including some marked “top secret,” on the floor before the Department of Justice (DoJ) made public the photos of the documents, with the former president suggesting it was staged to make it seem he placed them there.
“Terrible the way the FBI, during the Raid of Mar-a-Lago, threw documents haphazardly all over the floor (perhaps pretending it was me that did it!), and then started taking pictures of them for the public to see. Thought they wanted them kept Secret?” Trump posted on Truth Social on August 31, before making the disputed claim that declassified all the materials found at his home.
In another social-media post the same day, Trump accused the FBI of being “very deceiving” for setting up the picture of the top-secret documents being “sloppily thrown on the floor.”
While giving a speech at a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on September 3, the former president described the FBI and the DoJ as “vicious monsters, controlled by radical-left scoundrels.”
Trump also alleged that federal agents carried out a “deep and ugly search” of his 16-year-old son Barron’s room at Mar-a-Lago and left “everything they touched in far different conditions than it was when they started.”
Newsweek has contacted the FBI for comment.
